Chitrak is one of the most powerful digestive and metabolic stimulants in the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia. Its name means “the spotted one.” It has a intensely heating potency (Ushna Virya) and is used to powerfully increase digestive fire (Agni) and burn toxins (ama). It is used to treat conditions of sluggish digestion, low appetite, and metabolic slowness. It is very effective at pacifying Kapha and Vata doshas.
