Chitrak is one of the most powerful digestive and metabolic stimulants in the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia. Its name means “the spotted one.” It has a intensely heating potency (Ushna Virya) and is used to powerfully increase digestive fire (Agni) and burn toxins (ama). It is used to treat conditions of sluggish digestion, low appetite, and metabolic slowness. It is very effective at pacifying Kapha and Vata doshas.

For Digestive Stimulation (Practitioner Guidance Required): Traditionally, a very small pinch of the powder is taken with buttermilk or honey before a meal to ignite a sluggish digestive system.
