Betel Leaf, or Paan, holds a significant place in Indian culture and Ayurveda. It is a powerful carminative, digestive stimulant, and mouth freshener. Its warming and stimulating properties are used to pacify the Kapha and Vata doshas. It is traditionally chewed after meals (often with other ingredients like areca nut and slaked lime) to aid digestion, freshen breath, and act as a mild stimulant. It is also used to relieve coughs and soothe sore throats.

For a Soothing Throat Gargle: A warm decoction of the leaf powder can be used as a gargle to relieve throat irritation and hoarseness.
As a Digestive Aid: In traditional practice, a single leaf is chewed after a meal. The powder can be used in very small amounts in digestive formulations.
Note: The traditional use of Betel leaf often involves areca nut and tobacco, which have known health risks. The leaf itself is used for its medicinal properties.
