Overview

Baheda is the fruit of a large deciduous tree that grows throughout the Indian subcontinent. The dried fruit is renowned for its rejuvenating and detoxifying properties. It holds a special place in Ayurveda for its action on three of the body’s seven tissues (dhatus) – nutrient plasma (Rasa), muscle (Mamsa), and bone (Asthi). Its potent astringent quality also benefits the entire digestive tract.

Bibhitaki, meaning “the one that keeps away disease,” is a cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine. It is one of the three fruits that constitute the legendary Triphala formulation. It is particularly effective at balancing the Kapha dosha. Traditionally, it is revered for its benefits to the respiratory system, acting as an expectorant. It is also a powerful Keshya herb, promoting hair growth and preventing premature graying.

For a Hair Strengthening Mask: Combine Baheda powder with SUPHERB® Amla and Bhringraj powders. Mix with warm water to form a paste and apply to the scalp and hair. Leave for 30-45 minutes before rinsing.
For Respiratory Support: A traditional gargle can be made by mixing the powder with warm water and honey to soothe the throat.
