Adusa, or Vasaka, is a celebrated herb in Ayurveda for respiratory health. It is a powerful expectorant and bronchodilator, traditionally used to relieve cough, colds, bronchitis, and asthma. Its bitter and astringent taste helps it pacify Pitta and Kapha doshas. It works by loosening phlegm in the airways and helping to expel it.
● For a Respiratory Decoction: Boil 1 tsp of Adusa powder in 2 cups of water until it reduces by half. Strain and mix with a teaspoon of honey. Drink this twice a day to relieve cough and congestion.
● For a Soothing Gargle: A warm decoction of the leaves can be used as a gargle to soothe a sore throat.
