These galls are exceptionally high in tannins, which gives them their incredible astringency. They have been used for centuries to make traditional inks and as a powerful medicinal agent.

Manjuphal is one of the most powerful natural astringents known in Ayurveda. It is primarily used for its potent tissue-tightening (Kashaya) properties. It is excellent for pacifying Pitta and Kapha. It is used to strengthen and tighten uterine and vaginal tissues, support gum health, and stop bleeding. Its powerful antiseptic properties also make it useful for wound healing.
● For a Gum-Tightening Powder: A small amount of the powder can be mixed with other herbs and used to massage the gums to help with bleeding and looseness.
● For Skin Astringency: A weak decoction of the powder can be used as a facial rinse to tighten pores.
● Note: This is an extremely potent astringent and must be used in very small, well-diluted quantities.
