OUR CERTIFICATIONS

Overview

Vetiver is a perennial bunchgrass native to India. While the grass itself is unremarkable, its true treasure lies hidden in its dense, fibrous root system. These roots, which can grow deep into the earth, produce a complex and highly prized essential oil, famously used in perfumery for its grounding base notes. The dried roots are also woven into mats and curtains, which, when sprinkled with water, cool and perfume the air in the hot Indian summer.

Vetiver, or Ushira, is Ayurveda’s supreme cooling herb, renowned for its ability to pacify Pitta dosha. Its deeply cooling nature makes it a classic remedy for managing burning sensations, fevers, and excess thirst. It is used to calm the mind, reduce inflammation, and purify the blood. In skincare, it helps to cool acne and rashes, tone the skin, and reduce the appearance of scars.

For a Body-Cooling Drink: Infuse a small amount of the root powder in a jug of drinking water. Let it sit for a few hours to impart its cooling properties and subtle flavor.
For a Soothing Skin Toner: A strained decoction of the powder can be used as a facial mist or toner to calm irritated skin and tighten pores.
For a Calming Bath: Add a few spoonfuls of the powder to a warm bath to soothe the nerves and cool the body.
