Overview

Activated charcoal is not the same as the charcoal from a barbecue grill. It is a fine black powder made from materials like coconut shells, bone char, or wood that has been heated to very high temperatures and “activated” with steam. This process creates millions of tiny pores on the surface of the charcoal, dramatically increasing its surface area and its ability to bind to other substances

French: Charbon actif
German: Aktivkohle
Chinese: Huóxìng tàn (活性炭)
Arabic: م ط (Fahm munashit)
Spanish: Carbón activado
Russian: Активированный уголь (Aktivirovannyy ugol’)
Japanese: 活性炭 (Kasseitan)

Activated charcoal is a potent natural treatment used to trap toxins and chemicals in the body, allowing them to be flushed out so the body doesn’t reabsorb them. It is most commonly used to treat poisonings and drug overdoses. In a wellness and beauty context, its powerful adsorption properties are used to deeply cleanse the skin and teeth. It binds to dirt, oil, and toxins, pulling them from pores and whitening teeth by adsorbing plaque and microscopic debris.

For a Deep-Cleansing Face Mask: Mix 1 tsp of activated charcoal with 2 tsp of water or SUPHERB® Aloe Vera gel to form a paste. Apply a thin layer to the face, let it dry for 10 minutes, and rinse thoroughly to reveal deeply cleansed pores.
For Natural Teeth Whitening: Dip a wet toothbrush into a small amount of charcoal powder. Brush gently for 1-2 minutes, then rinse your mouth and toothbrush extremely well. Use 1-2 times per week.
